Members of the fire department from the town of Napanee and their families were involved in a bus crash early this morning that left one person dead and 12 others injured.
The accident occurred on Highway 401 near Woodstock.
The chief administrator of the town of Napanee says five of the firefighters were injured in a second, unrelated car accident also in western Ontario.
Ray Callery says some of the family members had went to pick up their firefighters when they were released from hospital and were returning home on the bus when it crashed.
Ontario Provincial Police say 12 people were taken to hospital by ground and air ambulances, but the condition of the injured people is not clear.
The bus was owned by McCoy Bus Service, an Kingston based charter service.
